Before you start
- Applies to. ChatGPT on the web. People say ChatGPT connectors. ChatGPT's own word for what you add is a custom app.
- Plans. At the time of writing, OpenAI's help centre says full MCP support, including write actions, is rolling out in beta to ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu.
- Role. In a workspace, only admins and owners can enable developer mode and publish an app. A member adds an app that was published.
- On a plan of your own. On Plus or Pro you add Dienox yourself, in developer mode. ChatGPT can then read the knowledge base, but not write to it. For what your plan allows, see OpenAI's page.
- In Dienox. You need an account in your organisation, and an administrator invites you. Dienox is in beta, so your organisation joins the beta first.
Plans and menus change. OpenAI's own page on developer mode and MCP apps is leading.
The steps
In a workspace where an admin has published Dienox:
- Open ChatGPT on the web and click Apps (or Plugins) in the menu on the left.
- Search for Dienox and click the + next to it.
- Dienox opens. Sign in with your own account, pick your organisation and click Allow.
On a plan of your own:
- Open ChatGPT on the web and go to Settings, then Apps.
- Turn on Developer mode, under Advanced settings.
- Click Create and give it a name, for example Dienox.
- Paste this address:
https://dienox.com/mcp - Choose OAuth as the way to sign in, and click Create.
- Dienox opens. Sign in, pick your organisation and click Allow. In a conversation, select Dienox.
What you can ask now
Ask what you would ask a colleague who has been there for years. ChatGPT reads the knowledge base when the question needs it, and names the source.
- "What do we sell to hospitals, and on which terms?" Your products and services, and to whom, from what the organisation wrote down.
- "What was decided about the new price list?" The decision, when it was made and by whom, with the reasons behind it.
- "Prepare me for Thursday's meeting with this client." What was going on and what was agreed last time, with the source under each line.
For a whole team
An owner or admin of the workspace adds Dienox once, on the web:
- Open Workspace settings, then Apps, and click Create. Turn on developer mode for yourself when ChatGPT asks.
- Name it Dienox and paste the address:
https://dienox.com/mcp - Choose OAuth and click Scan Tools. Dienox opens: sign in, pick your organisation and click Allow.
- Back in ChatGPT, click Create. The app is now a draft.
- Under Workspace settings, Apps, Drafts, open it and click Publish.
From then on every member finds it under Apps, with the label custom, and adds it with their own account. Each member needs their own account in your organisation on Dienox first.
Next to ChatGPT company knowledge
ChatGPT has a feature of its own with a similar name. OpenAI describes company knowledge as a plugin that answers questions about an organisation from the knowledge sources available to a person in ChatGPT, including connected apps and custom apps built with MCP.
We have not tested Dienox as a source for that plugin, so we do not claim that it is one. What this page describes is Dienox as a custom app that ChatGPT uses in a chat. The same knowledge base is then read by Claude, Copilot and Cursor as well.
What company knowledge is, in OpenAI's own terms, and how it compares with a Project in Claude: ChatGPT company knowledge or Claude Projects?
If it does not work
- You cannot find Dienox under Apps. Your admin has not published it yet. Send them this page.
- You cannot turn on developer mode. In a workspace only admins and owners can. As a member you do not need it: you add the published app.
- ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it writes. That is ChatGPT's own check. For a write action it may ask for confirmation, depending on the app's permissions and the action.
- Something new in Dienox does not show up. ChatGPT keeps the actions it found when the app was published. On Business an app cannot be updated after publishing: create and publish it again. On Enterprise and Edu an admin refreshes it and enables the new actions.
- Every connection is refused. An administrator of your organisation has switched AI access off in Dienox, and can switch it on again.
The same knowledge in your other tools
Whatever you connect next reads the same knowledge base. What was settled in a chat here is there in the next tool, for you and for your colleagues.
- Connect Claude. As a custom connector, on the web and in the desktop app.
- Connect Microsoft Copilot. Through Copilot Studio, as a tool on an agent.
- Connect Cursor. As an MCP server, with a personal token.
Every tool side by side: connect your AI tools to your company knowledge. What the address you add does, and what it cannot do: the Dienox MCP server.
Questions people ask
Which ChatGPT plans can connect to Dienox?
At the time of writing, OpenAI's help centre says full MCP support, including write actions, is rolling out in beta to ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, on the web. On a Plus or Pro plan you add Dienox yourself in developer mode, and ChatGPT then reads but does not write. We last checked this on 1 October 2026.
Do members of a workspace need developer mode?
No. According to OpenAI's help centre, only admins and owners can enable developer mode and publish an app to the workspace. Once Dienox is published, a member finds it under Apps in ChatGPT, adds it and signs in to Dienox with their own account. Nothing else has to be switched on.
Can I train ChatGPT on my business?
You do not train it. Training would change the model itself, and a team does not need that. You connect a source that ChatGPT reads when a question needs it. With Dienox that source is one knowledge base of how your business works, so ChatGPT answers from your facts, and the facts stay yours to correct.
Is this the same as ChatGPT company knowledge?
No. Company knowledge is a plugin in ChatGPT that answers questions about an organisation from the sources available to a person there. Dienox is one source outside ChatGPT, which Claude, Copilot and Cursor read as well. We have not tested Dienox as a source for that plugin, so we do not claim that it is one.
